“The video surveillance system installed by Visual Defence in the major banks in Israel allowed us to provide police investigators with high-quality images of the robbery suspect,” said Mr. Zohar Hamenachem, CSO for Israel Discount Bank, Ltd. “Capturing the suspect required a collaborative effort. Not only was Israel Discount Bank being targeted in this string of robberies, but also Hapoalim Bank and others. The Visual Defence system enabled images of this suspected individual to be sent to different banks in cities throughout the country, as well as to the media.”
After releasing the image to the media, the police received numerous tips that led to the eventual arrest of this individual.
The installed video surveillance system includes the Visual Defence Digital Video Recording (DViR) platform. DViR provides the bank with a redundant, scalable platform supporting video motion detection, pre- and post-alarm recording, wireless access and two-way audio. The installation integrates the CCTV with the Burglar Alarm system and with over 1200 bank branches via network architecture.
“The system not only alerts us to potential threats but it also automatically records all aspects of the event, from video to pre-and-post alarm reporting and response actions as well. The system gives us the ability to view our response and fine-tune it for future events,” says Hamenachem.
“Visual Defence is pleased to have been able to provide these banks with the technology they need to protect the interests and well-being of their clients and employees,” said Dagan Sadeh, CEO of Visual Defence. “The banks are also turning their attention to the integration of ATM cameras and transaction data into the upgraded comprehensive DViR. ATM fraud is an increasing security concern and digital video surveillance is one way to combat it. Integrating existing systems into the network not only prevents fraud and robberies, but improves functionality and ROI.”
