VISUAL DEFENCE LAUDED AS FINALIST FOR IFSEC SECURITY INDUSTRY AWARDS 2007

Innovative Provider of Security Convergence Solutions Recognized for Excellence in IP-Based Digital Video Technology

RICHMOND HILL, ONTARIO – May 16, 2007 – Visual Defence Inc. (LSE:VDI), the security convergence company, today announced it has been named as a finalist for the IFSEC Security Industry Awards 2007. The Visual Defence Mobile Digital Video Storage System, DVSSm, was nominated in the Best New IP Product category.

The IFSEC Security Industry Awards acknowledge the people, products and technological advancements that have played a large part in shaping the security industry over the past year. The awards will be presented on Monday, May 21st in conjunction with the IFSEC 2007 event taking place that week at the NEC Birmingham, England.

The DVSSm is a control, monitoring and investigation solution for mobile environments designed to create a comprehensive, yet easy-to-use digital video recording system with an architecture that is both flexible and expandable. Developed specifically for public transportation vehicles, the DVSSm connects to IP cameras using Power-over-Ethernet (POE), which decreases cabling costs and centralizes monitoring capabilities. The DVSSm enables clients to converge applications by using the system not only for security but also for content delivery as a way to generate additional revenue and communicate with passengers.

As part of its long-term security and public safety strategy, Stockholm LokalTrafik (SL) is installing one DVSSm on each of its 2,100 buses. Bus drivers alert SL operators at the central monitoring station to a security event on a bus using the driver panic alarm. When such an event occurs, the SL operator remotely protects the video on the bus and tags it to be loaded into the central archive. The protected security footage from the buses is downloaded via a WiFi connection, viewed and stored for investigative purposes.

“Visual Defence has been a pioneer in the provision of IP-based video management solutions, and it is a pleasure to be recognized by the IFSEC award committee for our latest contribution to digital video technology,” said Dagan Sadeh, CEO at Visual Defence. “We strongly believe that IP-based systems provide our clients with the best ROI by offering the greatest functionality, flexibility and scalability. The installation at SL is a great example of how companies can leverage POE connections to increase public safety while creating new revenue opportunities.”
