The Virtual Classroom Manager (VCM) is an IP-based Audio-Visual application that will facilitate the ability to listen, view and record live activities in seminar rooms, classes and laboratories and view archived sessions via video streaming from a central storage database. The revolutionary aspect of this system is the creation of an advanced digital video recording platform using VDI’s Digital Video Storage System (DVSS), which encodes and synchronizes audio and video streams. “Users who access the Virtual Classroom Manager SoftClient workstation can view live sessions, query and view recorded lessons and download recorded data to DVD, offering the User a powerful tool to efficiently schedule their time”, notes Stuart Steinberg, Chief Corporate Officer, Visual Defence.
The interactive nature of the solution provides a valuable resource for pharmacy students and faculty. Students will utilize the system to observe proper pharmaceutical procedures and techniques while faculty are provided with a tool to evaluate students performing specific tasks. The Virtual Classroom Manager also provides an infrastructure for future applications, including distance learning and internet correspondence programs.

The CDN$75 million project is scheduled for completion in December 2005.
