Summary
As a Data Annotator (Night Shift) at Visual Defence you will train machine-learning programs to better understand text, mimic human thought, and respond more accurately to human interaction. You will enjoy collaborating alongside and communicating with the members of the AI team to ensure that the final result is in its best form and is representative of a well-researched process.
You will be provided a shift schedule, which may include working a shift during the day, evening and/or nighttime and can include weekdays and/or weekends.
About this Role
- Review, and categorize content for applications using internal software programs.
- Establish proper classifications and apply labels to images and videos data with established procedures.
- Make content distinctions, identify patterns and build high-quality dataset to allow easier and faster user accessibility.
- Provide constructive feedback to our engineers on tooling and processes for more efficient labeling to improve data quality.
- Conduct research and analysis as needed on current and potential industries related to the areas of natural resources, inclusive of some or all of the following areas: Energy, Forests, Minerals / Metals, Earth Sciences, Green Manufacturing, Carbon & Climate Mitigation, Energy Efficiency & Green Buildings, Resource Conservation, and Environmental Protection.
Requirements
- Post-secondary Diploma in technology program or four year’s degree is preferred.
- Strong computer and application skills is an asset.
- An excellent communicator verbal and written.
- Highly motivated, energetic and result oriented.
- Must be extremely organized, proactive and detail oriented.
- Patient and comfortable with repetitive tasks.
- Self-motivated to work independently.

A key aspect of this role is securing significant public and private grant opportunities—often valued in the millions—managing funded projects, and fostering strategic collaborations with public and private institutions, research organizations, industry partners, and government agencies.
Requirements
- Proven experience in business development, strategic partnerships, or growth roles.
- A track record in grant funding (identifying, securing, managing) is considered an asset
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Public Policy, Business, Engineering, Science, or a related field.
- Familiarity or experience with the mining, agricultural, defense or ocean sectors is highly desirable.
- Experience representing companies at industry events, trade shows, and exhibitions.
